Energy-efficient windows are insulated, preventing outdoor temperatures from impacting the temperatures inside your home. That means more comfortable and consistent interior temperatures, and lower energy bills.
A classic look with a twist: with double-hung windows, the top and bottom sashes move independently of each other, allowing you to fully customize ventilation.
Yes! Save on heating and cooling costs year-round with the SolarZone™ TG2 Elite™ insulated glass package. In warm weather, it will reduce solar heat accumulation, minimize interior glare and lower interior glass temperature. In cool temps, it delivers outstanding thermal performance and warmer interior glass surfaces to maintain comfort in the winter. This package also meets all ENERGY STAR requirements.
Our double-hung windows are built to fit your home’s specific measurements. Contact us to learn size specifications of our different models.
Yes! When extreme wind and weather hit, our proprietary sill interlock stands strong. Traditional slope sill designs can allow the sash to bow during powerful winds, but with our interlocking sash-to-sill technology, the sash is channeled firmly into the window frame for a unified wall of strength.
Window World double hung windows are designed using tilt-in sashes, meaning the bottom and top sashes can tilt inwards to make it quick and easy to clean both the inside and outside of your windows.
To do this, you’ll want to follow these steps:
Single hung and double hung windows both include vertically sliding sashes. Single hung windows feature only one mobile sash, while the other sash is fixed in place. Meanwhile, double hung windows feature two sliding sashes, meaning you can open and close both the top and bottom window sash.
All double hung windows from Window World of Central Alabama are installed by our team of factory trained professionals. Our staff covers everything including setting, leveling and caulking, ensuring that your windows fit perfectly and provide an air-tight seal. Learn more about our installation process.
Double hung windows feature two sliding sashes, meaning you can open your window from the top or bottom. To open the bottom sash, simply unlock it and slide the sash up to the desired position. To open the upper sash, unlock the lower sash and carefully lower the upper sash to the desired position.
Before locking your double hung window, check the alignment of your locks. Ensure the upper sash is pushed all the way up and that the lower sash is pushed down until fully sealed. This allows your locks to secure with no obstructions.
