Consumers believe an attractive front entrance not only adds to a home’s curb appeal but can also boost its perceived market value, according to a national study commissioned by Therma-Tru.
The study, conducted by an independent research company, found that a home with an enhanced Therma-Tru entryway added to its perceived value by as much as five times the cost of the entry door itself.*
At a time when homeowners are looking to get the most out of every dollar they spend on their home, installing attractive new exterior doors is a cost-effective investment that can have a big impact.

For the past few decades, fiberglass has been most advanced material for entryways, – and for good reason. It gives homeowners the look of wood and the strength of steel, without the compromises of either. Fiberglass doors combine security, energy efficiency, performance, and aesthetics into one affordable package. We’re proud to be partnered with Therma-Tru, who not only pioneered the fiberglass door category, but continues to be an industry leader. Learn about the some common door materials below.

Energy-efficient doors are insulated, keeping the air you’re paying to heat and cool inside your home where it belongs. This means your HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard to keep your home comfortable.

Fiberglass doors come with a variety of benefits including superior energy-efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scratch-resistance when compared to their steel counterparts. Additionally, fiberglass doors are more durable than steel doors. For these reasons and more, we only offer fiberglass entry doors at Window World of Central Alabama.
To measure for an entry door, start by measuring the width of your door frame. Next, measure and record your door frame’s height, followed by your door’s thickness to get a complete set of dimensions.
You can either paint your entry door in its upright position or by removing it from its hinges for more convenient access. Start by priming your entry door, and then begin applying your paint, one coat at a time. Be mindful of the time of year when you decide to paint, as extreme hot or cold weather can affect the final results.
Additionally, when you choose Window World for your new entry door, you won’t need to worry about painting! You can simply choose your ideal color from our wide selection of color options.
To add additional insulation to your entry door, consider applying weather stripping around the edges of your door to limit excess airflow. Certain types of door materials are more naturally insulated than others. For example, wooden doors expand or shrink as temperatures fluctuate, making weather stripping wooden doors more difficult. Fiberglass doors, on the other hand, insulate your home more efficiently, as they contain insulating foam. Entry doors from Window World are installed with weatherstripping seals already in place for maximum insulation.
To adjust an entry door, follow this process:
1. Cut under the hinge
2. Disconnect the hinge and the jamb
3. Place a piece of cardboard under the hinge
4. Reconnect hinge and jamb
